What if the Vatican were nuked?

An ancient secret brotherhood.

A devastating new weapon of destruction.

An unthinkable target...

Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is shocked to find proof that the legendary secret society, the Illuminati--dedicated since the time of Galileo to promoting the interests of science and condemning the blind faith of Catholicism--is alive, well, and murderously active. Brilliant physicist Leonardo Vetra has been murdered, his eyes plucked out, and the society's ancient symbol branded upon his chest. His final discovery, antimatter, the most powerful and dangerous energy source known to man, has disappeared--only to be hidden somewhere beneath Vatican City on the eve of the election of a new pope.

Let's weave a thread, shall we?

With all the world's leaders expected to convene at the Vatican this friday for the funeral of PJPII, one wonders if such a concentration of world leaders could be terrorist target numero uno.

From Canada, both the Prime Minister and the leader of the official opposition will be travelling to Rome this friday. Price Chaz has delayed his wedding to Camilla Parker Bowles to attend. In all, over 200 world political leaders are expected to attend this friday in addition to the "Princes of the Church" - the Cardinals, who will vote for a Pope on April 18th. As for signs in the skies, this Friday's funeral coincides with a hybrid eclipse, which will not be visible from Rome. Fortunately, you can watch it HERE.

What if - I mean WHAT IF the Vatican were fried this friday? The world would descend into chaos, nations would fall and likely every whack-nut with a nuke would launch them at whatever country they wanted. Various news sources state that the Vatican has only had 4 days to prepare for the sudden influx of over 2 million pilgrims to St. Peter's square. HERE.
However, this offers some reassurance:

Others discount that the pope's funeral is a likely target for a terrorist attack.

London-based terrorism expert Loretta Napoleoni, a Rome native, said militants probably haven't had enough time to plan an attack on St. Peter's, given how quickly the pope's health declined. It took the organizers of the 2003 Madrid, Spain, train bombings a year to gather the necessary explosives, she noted.

She added: "The security in Italy is phenomenal. It's the best anti-terror system in Europe. They have been dealing with terrorism, from the" political "left and the right, for decades."

A navy torpedo boat has been sailing up and down the coast near Rome, Fogari said. Italy's air force will be ready to scramble fighter jets during the funeral, and snipers will take up positions on rooftops, officials said.
